Behind the scenes: Building Hotvet legesenter

In just over five weeks we open the doors of Hotvet legesenter at Rosenkrantzgaten 75 in Drammen. The premises are buzzing with activity right now – tradespeople at work, walls going up, windows fitted, and rooms taking their final shape. As a future patient, you may also want to see what is happening behind the scenes.

How far have we come?

The building has been undergoing a thorough renovation since the winter. We made a deliberate choice to refurbish from the ground up rather than just paint over the old. This gives us the chance to build a GP clinic that is modern, bright, and designed for today's standards of patient safety, hygiene, and universal accessibility.

As of today, we are at a stage where:

The next few weeks are about finishing touches, furnishing, IT installation, approvals, and final preparations before we welcome our first patients.

Bright rooms with views over the city

From the very beginning we have wanted both patients and staff to feel comfortable in the space. That means plenty of daylight, pleasant acoustics, and rooms that are easy to navigate.

One of the doctors' offices – large windows let in daylight and offer a view over the city.

The central location also makes it easy to get here, whether you arrive by bus, car, or on foot.

A corridor that ties everything together

Newly finished corridor connecting the consultation rooms
The corridor in its new finish – doorways lead from here to consultation rooms, the laboratory, and shared areas.

When you arrive, you will pass through an open waiting area and continue into the corridor shown in the photo above. We chose a layout where consultation rooms are grouped together, keeping the distance short between the doctor, the laboratory, and the treatment room. That means smoother flow and less waiting for you.

How we plan to welcome you

The newly built reception desk
The reception desk is in place – this is where you'll meet us when you arrive.

Reception is the first thing you'll meet. Our medical secretaries will welcome you, answer your questions, and make sure you are sent in the right direction. We have prioritised an open and welcoming design – because the first impression matters.
