Like many other municipalities in Norway, Drammen has struggled with GP capacity for several years. Hotvet legesenter is one of two new clinics the municipality has supported — the other being Drammen Helsepark — and together they add ten new GP positions in Drammen.

In practice, this means it is easy to register now — and that there will be capacity to see you within a reasonable time once you have switched. That is a significant difference from many established clinics, where appointment wait times can be long even for registered patients.
The GPs joining Hotvet legesenter
The article introduces the medical team:
- Specialists in general practice: Ahmed Akram, Inva Malaj and Mari Sørum Melaaen.
- General practitioners (ALIS — specialists in training): Anja Egilsdóttir, Frida Børsting and Hubert Shema.

Built for young doctors and future growth
An important point in the DT article is the motivation behind the project: Dosic explains that he wants to make it easier for young doctors to start out as GPs, by building a centre where doctors can focus on patient care and offload much of the administrative work.

The article also notes that the wider Hotvet area is undergoing significant development: the gym chain Feel24 will move into the ground floor of the building, an ophthalmology practice is planned for the business park, and around 120–130 new homes are being planned along the river in the Hotvetalléen project.
