Changing GP
Registration takes effect on the 1st of the following month
When you change your GP via Helsenorge.no, you are not registered with us immediately. Registration takes effect on the 1st of the following month.
Until you are registered at Hotvet legesenter:
- You remain a patient at your current GP and must use them for all medical services during the transition
- You cannot book appointments at Hotvet legesenter until registration is active
- We cannot issue sick notes, prescriptions or referrals until you are registered with us
- You cannot start e-consultations or send us messages via Helsenorge until you are our patient
Example: if you change GP on 15 March, you will be registered with us from 1 April.
Medical records
Ask your previous GP to transfer your records
To ensure your new doctor at Hotvet legesenter can provide the best possible care from your very first appointment, we recommend asking your previous GP to send your medical records to us well in advance.
This allows your doctor to prepare and review your history before the consultation, making the appointment more efficient and effective.
- Contact your previous GP and ask them to send your records to your chosen GP at Hotvet legesenter
- Records are transferred via secure electronic communication between clinics
- You have the right to request a copy of your own medical records at any time
Step by step
How to become a patient with us

Change GP on Helsenorge.no — log in with BankID and select Hotvet legesenter as your new GP. Free and takes only a few minutes.

Wait until the 1st of next month — until then you remain a patient at your current GP. Use them for anything you need during this transition period.

Request record transfer — contact your previous GP and ask them to send your medical records to your chosen GP at Hotvet legesenter before your first consultation.

Book your first appointment — from the date you are registered with us, you can book via Helsenorge.no. We look forward to welcoming you!

Do you need urgent medical help?
- For urgent help outside opening hours: call the out-of-hours GP service on 116 117
- For life-threatening emergencies: call 113
- Hotvet legesenter does not provide emergency services outside normal opening hours
