As a patient in the Norwegian GP scheme you pay a co-payment set by Helfo and the Parliament. These co-payments are the same for every general practitioner in Norway — regardless of which clinic you belong to. Hotvet legesenter follows the official rates, and the prices on this page are updated when new rates take effect on 1 July each year.
Children under 16, pregnant patients attending maternity check-ups and some other patient groups are exempt from co-payments. Once you reach NOK 3 115 in co-payments during the calendar year, you automatically receive an exemption card (frikort) from Helfo — and all further consultations are free for the rest of the year. See up-to-date details at Helfo.no.
Urgent care during opening hours is billed at the same co-payment as a regular consultation with your general practitioner, but in some cases additional fees may apply for procedures, consumables or laboratory tests. Travel vaccines and certain certificates that are not covered by Helfo are paid in full by the patient. The medical secretary will inform you clearly before you receive such services.
You may pay by card, Vipps or invoice. A missed-appointment fee applies if the appointment is not cancelled at least 24 hours in advance. Notifications about appointments, prescriptions and test results are sent via Helsenorge. If you have questions about an invoice, please reach out to the medical secretary — we are happy to explain the rate basis.
